Cairns Community Support

Tropic Wings Cairns Tours and Charters and all businesses within the CaPTA group are dedicated to giving back to the community.

Proactive in supporting local schools, the arts, sporting groups and more through providing sponsorship and prizes for charity events.

Alongside this, we regularly partake in community fundraisers, such as the Mayor’s Christmas Carols. We encourage our staff to participate in our charity activities to make a positive impact on Cairns and the community.

COUCH

COUCH (Committee for Oncology Unit at Cairns Hospital) is a local charity which was started by Charles and Pip Woodward, the founders of the CaPTA Group, in 2016. It is dedicated to improving services that help those affected by cancer and is dedicated to helping people affected by cancer.

Both COUCH volunteers and the charities board are dedicated to making this happen and the first success was the opening of the Liz Plummer Cancer Care Centre in 2011.

Charles and Pip Woodward made it their mission to continue to improve the services for those living with cancer in the Far North. The COUCH Wellness Centre opened in 2019 on land donated by the Woodward Family. The centre provides health, well-being and lifestyle support to compliment cancer treatment pathways.

TARC

TARC (Tropical Animal Rehabilitation Centre) is a non-profit charity that is dedicated to caring for sick, orphaned, injured and displaced native Australian wildlife.

The on-site care centre is at Wildlife Habitat Port Douglas was established by the Woodward Family in 2018, with support of the Walter and Eileen Leder Foundation, and depends solely on donations for its operation.

Tropic Wings’ supports TARC by visiting Wildlife Habitat Port Douglas on all Daintree and Cape Tribulation Tours.

Information Regarding Tropical Cyclone Jasper

Tours and Charters temporarily suspended

Due to the severe weather predicted associated with Tropical Cyclone Jasper all tours and charters are currently suspended.

We anticipate to resume tours & charters on Friday 15th December, however, this will be assessed once the cyclone has passed to ensure that it is safe to do so.

Our reservations and charters team will be working with minimal staff during this time and there are likely to be considerable delays in responding to your queries.

Thank you for your understanding and we will provide further information once the weather conditions improve.

Due to the planned maintenance, our Kuranda tours that include Skyrail Rainforest Cableway and Kuranda Scenic Railway won’t be operating.
