Accessibility & Inclusivity
We're committed to making our tours as accessible and inclusive as possible. Here's what you need to know before you book — and how to reach us if you have specific requirements.
We want everyone to experience Tropical North Queensland
Tropic Wings has been welcoming guests of all ages and abilities for over 40 years. We do our best to accommodate a range of accessibility needs — and we're always happy to discuss your specific requirements before you book so we can find the best option for you.
Air-conditioned coaches
All Tropic Wings coaches are fully air-conditioned — essential in the Far North Queensland climate. Our electric VW ID. Buzz vehicles operate quietly and smoothly, minimising motion discomfort for guests with sensory sensitivities.
Small, personal groups
We keep our group sizes small so our guides can attend to every guest individually. If you have accessibility requirements, our guides will be aware before the tour and can pace stops and activities to suit your needs.
Talk to us before you book
If you have mobility, hearing, vision, dietary, or other specific requirements, please contact our reservations team before booking. We'll advise which tours are most suitable and note your needs so your guide is prepared on the day.
Central Cairns departures
Most Tropic Wings tours depart from central Cairns hotel pick-up points, removing the need to navigate your own way to a departure terminal. Pick-up can be discussed when you book.
Experienced, caring guides
Our guides have decades of experience leading groups of all ages and backgrounds. They're trained to look out for every guest and make sure everyone — regardless of physical ability — leaves with a memorable experience.
Flexible tour pacing
While our tours follow set itineraries, guides exercise discretion on rest stops and walking distances at each location. Let us know your needs and we'll do our best to accommodate a comfortable pace throughout the day.
Accessibility notes for each tour type
Kuranda Tours
Generally accessibleKuranda tours involve coach travel and optional short walks around the Kuranda village. The Skyrail gondola cabins can accommodate most mobility devices; Scenic Railway carriages have standard seating.
Daintree & Cape Tribulation
Moderate terrainThe Daintree and Cape Tribulation tours involve walking on rainforest boardwalks, beach terrain, and some uneven surfaces. Most key stops have accessible viewing areas, but the experience involves more active walking than our city or Kuranda tours.
Cairns City Sights
Generally accessibleOur Cairns City Sights tours are primarily coach-based with stops at Cairns' key landmarks, the Esplanade, and local attractions. This is one of our most accessible tour types, with minimal walking and sealed paths at all major stops.
Private Exclusive Tours
Fully customisableOur Private Exclusive Tours offer the most flexibility for guests with specific accessibility or mobility requirements. As a private, custom tour, we can tailor the itinerary, pacing, and stops entirely around your group's needs.
What to consider when planning your tour
Tropical North Queensland's attractions span rainforest, beach, and reef — meaning terrain and walking requirements vary significantly between tours. We want every guest to have a wonderful day, so please read the guidance below and reach out if you're unsure.
Our reservations team is always happy to discuss your specific requirements and help you choose the tour that will work best for you.
Contact our team to discuss your needsMobility aids & wheelchairs
Please inform us at time of booking if you will be bringing a wheelchair, walker, or other mobility aid. Our coaches have steps to board; we can arrange boarding assistance but cannot guarantee ramp access on all vehicles. A private tour may be the best option for wheelchair users.
Hearing impairment
Our guides are experienced at working with guests with hearing impairments. Please let us know in advance so your guide can position themselves appropriately during commentary and ensure you get the most from the experience.
Vision impairment
Our guides are passionate storytellers who describe landscapes, wildlife, and cultural sites in rich detail — making our tours meaningful for guests with vision impairment. Please advise us when booking and we'll ensure your guide is briefed.
Medical conditions & dietary needs
If you have a medical condition that could be relevant during the tour (e.g. requiring rest breaks, specific seating, or first-aid awareness), or if you have dietary requirements for any included meals, please advise us at the time of booking.
